See the poll of the month for June. Previous poll results: 80% of you thought that if Bergkamp continues his career it would be the right decision, even if dropped on the bench. Now the final decision has been made and it looks like Wenger shares the fans' opinion! Total of 724 votes were submitted, thanks to all involved.
23/05/05 Arsenal win the FA Cup
Man Utd were the better side on the pitch but after goalless 120 minutes the Gunners won the penalty shoot-out and the FA Cup belongs to Arsenal! Bergkamp started as a lone striker but didn't have one of his best days and was deservedly substituted on the 65th minute. But Wenger also confirmed that Bergkamp will be offered one more year!
16/05/05 Bergy scores in the last league game
Dennis got the only goal in Arsenal's 2-1 defeat against Birmingham. he scored a late equaliser with a close range shot but B'ham managed to score one more in the last minute of the match. But the season isn't over yet, FA Cup final coming up this Saturday!
12/05/05 Bergkamp on fire!
"One more year", the Arsenal fans chanted in unison as they contemplated the prospect of Dennis being allowed to retire this summer rather than being offered a final 12-month deal. In Arsenal's 7-0 win Against Everton yesterday, Bergkamp was at his majestic and inspirational best, playing a prominent role in all three first-half goals as he set up Robin van Persie, Robert Pires and Patrick Vieira. After Pires had struck again and Edu had converted a penalty in his own final game at Highbury, the Dutchman capped an awesome display by scoring himself. After the match God commented: “It is difficult not to get emotional when they start cheering and shouting one more year,” he said. “I had made up my mind already but this only made it more clear to me. Also if there was any doubt with the fans this has taken it away. I know I have respect from them but they seem to sense there is another year left in me. That is great from my point of view." If he is not offered a new deal, this was his final match at Highbury and - on this evidence - that possibility seems faintly ridiculous.

09/05/05 Another 25 minutes for Dennis
Bergkamp stayed on the bench against Liverpool while Robin van Persie retained his place in the starting eleven. They switched places in the 68. minute and Dennis got his goal-assist when he produced a sublime first-time lay-off to Cesc, who poked a shot past Dudek in the last minute.

Bergkamp has confirmed he will retire from football at the end of this season if he is not offered a final one-year contract by Arsenal. more...
03/05/05 Arsenal marching on towards the Champs League
Arsenal grabbed an important 2-0 win over West Brom and it looks like we'll be enjoying Champions League football once again next season. Bergkamp hasn't been at his best in the past month and has been a late substitute in the last two games. This time it paid off when he passed Edu through to make it 2-0 in the injury time. Off the pitch, it looks like there won't be any new info about Bergy's next season and a possible one-year extension until the season has finished.
13/04/05 Bergkamp waits for deal
Dennis is still waiting to learn if he will be offered a new contract by Arsenal. The forward's agent Rob Jansen confirmed that there has been no indication from Arsenal regarding a new deal for Bergkamp. more...
11/04/05 1-0 to the Arsenal
Bergkamp, back after a calf problem, was left on the bench against Middlesbrough on Saturday. After the break he replaced the injured Reyes but - like always - didn't show his best moves when coming in as a substitute. Pires scored the only goal of the match.
08/04/05 Bergkamp return
Dennis is available for the trip to to Middlesbrough on Saturday. "Dennis is back in contention", Wenger confirmed.
19/03/05 Injury keeps Dennis off the pitch
Bergkamp missed today's match against Blackburn with calf injury. Another Dutchman Robin Van Persie scored the only goal of the match. Arsenal won't be playing until 2nd of April so Bergkamp should be fit by then.

13/03/05 Gunners through
One-nil -win over Bolton got Arsenal into the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Bergkamp played the full 90 minutes and had a few good goalscoring opportunities but this time Freddie Ljungberg scored the only goal.
09/03/05 Another Champions League exit
Arsenal beat Bayern Munich 1-0 tonight but the Gunners lose 3-2 on aggregate. It was a brave display from the team and Bergkamp but this time (once again) it just wasn't enough.
23/02/05 Bergkamp banned for three games
The FA has released the following statement on its official website: "A Disciplinary Commission has rejected a claim for wrongful dismissal from Arsenal FC in relation to Dennis Bergkamp. As a result, a three-match suspension will start with immediate effect." Not so unexptected decision by the disgraceful FA.
19/02/05 Bergkamp sees red
Arsenal drew with Sheffield Utd in the FA Cup - and Dennis was sent off in the 35th minute of the match. Arsenal's players were incensed about a number of challenges by United players and in the melee that followed, Bergkamp appeared to raise his hands and push Blades player Cullip away. Referee Barry immediately reached for the red card to the fury of Wenger and Bergkamp's team-mates. It was a very harsh decision made by the referee. After the match Wenger commented the red card: "We will appeal yes. He didn't hit or push him. We are very young and you lose Dennis, who of course is one who can calm things down. So I knew we were exposed, because you look around the team you have just Freddie Ljungberg who is really experienced. All the rest are between 17 and 21 while Kolo is 23, so you know it is not easy."
15/02/05 Dennis ruled out of Bayern clash
Arsène Wenger has already ruled out Bergkamp from the trip to Bayern Munich next Tuesday. After Monday's victory over Crystal Palace, the Arsenal manager was asked if the Dutch striker would be making the journey to Germany next week when Champions League restarts. His reply was short and emphatic: "No". This means that DB10 will be almost certainly in the starting line-up in Saturday's FA Cup match against Sheffield Utd.
15/02/05 Wenger pays tribute to Dennis
Once again it was the skill of Dennis Bergkamp that really laid bare a gallant Crystal Palace team in Arsenal's thumping 5-1 victory yesterday. Dennis scored the first goal of the match with a close range shot and was, deservedly, praised after the match by the manager: "We know Dennis is committed to the club. To play up front the way he is doing at his age is a reward for the way he's led his life." Bergkamp wants to play in Arsenal's final season at Highbury and Wenger hopes that they can successfully negotiate a new deal at the end of the season. "You simply cannot replace Dennis because players of his quality are non-existent," he said. "He has done so well for us over the years that I want to make sure he's remembered as a true legend at the club."
07/02/05 Dazzling Dennis
Bergkamp has continued to show what a class act he is even in the latter stages of his career with his vision and touch play. He was one of the best players on the pitch against Man Utd last Tuesday and was instrumental in the champions' 3-1 cruise over Aston Villa this weekend. The Dutchman made a few goal-assists and created several other chances to his playmates.
24/01/05 Bergkamp scores the winner
Bergkamp's first goal since August sent Arsenal back up to second place in the Premiership at Highbury on Sunday evening after a great team performance and 1-0 win over Newcastle. The winning goal was typical of Dennis. In the 19th minute the Dutchman anticipated a flick from Mathieu Flamini, cushioned the ball into his path with one touch and fired home with another. It was a mixture of stealth and style underpinned with a cast-iron technique. "I feel at the start of the game he (Bergkamp) was very important because he gave us his vision, his technical ability, his positioning on the pitch gave us very good opportunities, and the fact he scored of course, it's a big goal today. Maybe physically he cannot be like he was at 27 or 28, but he has super class. When he gets the ball he knows what to do with it. And that's why his is still dangerous", Manager Wenger said after the match. Also Dennis commented his role in the team: "Every so often I nick a goal and I am happy with that. If you look around you there are a lot of goalscorers in the team who are better at that than me but I have some qualities that other players don't have."
16/01/05 Arsenal losing the spirit
Bergkamp returned from injury against Bolton yesterday and played 25 minutes from the end. Still the Wanderers got three points with 1-0 win and the gap between the Gunners and leaders Chelsea is now 10 points.
16/12/04 Busy weeks coming
Bergkamp was reintroducted against Rosenborg last Wednesday and had an instant impact - 5-1 win for the Gunners. He also started the match against Chelsea (2-2) and brought some well-needed experience on the pitch. Now The Iceman Website won't be updated until 10th January 2005 and in the meantime Arsenal plays six matches - so hectic times ahead. Now I just want to wish you a Merry Christmas and Unbeatable New Year!

Dennis claims Arsenal have recovered their confidence in the nick of time for Sunday's showdown with Chelsea. more...
02/12/04 Bergkamp misses Birmingham clash
Arsene Wenger has ruled out return for Dennis for the visit of Birmingham on Saturday. Maybe this is just a precaution to spare Bergkamp for the important match against Rosenborg in the final match of the Champions League group stage.
01/12/04 Site News: New poll of the month
See the poll of the month for December. Previous poll results: 78% of you think Bergkamp should be the captain of Arsenal instead of Vieira. Total of 375 votes were submitted, thanks to all involved.
28/11/04 Nightmare November - once again
A superb stoppage time winner by Neil Mellor gave Liverpool a dramatic 2-1 victory over struggling Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday. Bergkamp was absent because of his Achilles injury.
23/11/04 Bergkamp won't travel to Eindhoven
Dennis will not be making the trip to his home country to face PSV tomorrow. "Dennis is injured," said Wenger at Arsenal.com. "He has a little Achilles problem so he stayed behind."
19/11/04 Bergkamp could postpone retirement
Dennis has admitted he may play on for another season instead of retiring. He says: "If everything goes well this season I might even think about playing another season. I will have been here 10 years at the end of the season, which may surprise people but it hasn't been difficult for me. In that whole time there have only been one or two moments when I thought, maybe it's time to move to do something else. The way we've been playing is one of the big reasons why I wanted to carry on last season. You would be crazy to step away from this if you can still do it." Manager Arsene Wenger says Arsenal could offer 35-year-old Dutch forward a new one-year contract for next season. Wenger told reporters on Friday: "For Bergkamp, the case is quite simple. We always sit together in April or May and we have a frank discussion -- and that will happen." Pressed on whether he would offer a new deal to the Dutchman, who joined in 1995 after a two-year spell at Inter Milan, the Arsenal boss said: "I would not rule that out."
03/11/04 Gunners misfiring in Europe
After Saturday's disappointing draw with Southampton another draw followed; this time against Panathinaikos at Highbury. Bergkamp played well like the rest of the team, but the final touch seems to be missing at the moment. This time Reyes was left on the bench and he replaced Dennis in the 72. minute.
24/10/04 Manks end Gunners record run
Man United ensured Arsenal's unbeaten run did not reach number 50 as two second half goals earned The Red Devils 2-0 win over their arch rivals. To be fair, Arsenal deserved more than that as Rooney made a shameful dive to earn United a penalty and 1-0 lead. Still it wasn't the best Arsenal or Bergkamp performance. But don't forget, 49 matches unbeatable will be in the records book forever.
18/10/04 Arsenal cruising
Another comfortable win for the Gunners as Aston Villa was 3-1 defeated on Saturday. Bergkamp got the full 90 minutes as he won't travel to Greece this week. He made some great passes again and only a last-gasp tackle from Jlloyd Samuel and an excellent save by Postma denied him a goal.

Few t-shirt sellers have contacted me concerning their new Dennis t-shirts available. Check out T Shirt Tony for several Arsenal shirts and Harder than satan for Bergkamp and other cool shirts.
02/10/04 Arsenal 4-0 Charlton
Bergkamp was back in the side against Charlton after missing the midweek draw in Norway and he had a super game. The first goal was assisted by Dennis, when his run to the byline drew Kiely out of his goal. Bergkamp looked up, and promptly cut the ball back for Ljungberg, who nipped ahead of Charlton defender and flicked it into an unguarded net. Arsenal extended their lead in the table to five points before tomorrow's Chelsea vs Liverpool match.
01/10/04 Site News: New poll of the month
See the poll of the month for October. Previous poll results: 71% of you believe Bergkamp will make more goal assists than goals this season. Total of 251 votes were submitted, thanks to all involved.
28/09/04 Bergkamp getting a rest
Tomorrow Arsenal will face Rosenborg in Norway, so Dennis won't travel. DB has been a regular in the starting eleven this season (started against PSV, Man City and got 20 mins against Bolton), so we can expect him to start against Charlton on Saturday.
12/09/04 Arsenal still unbeatable
It's now 45 matches and not a single defeat in the league. Since my last update Bergkamp scored one against Norwich (4-1) in injury time despite playing just 18 minutes. Henry hit a perfect pass to Dennis just inside the box on the right. His first touch placed the ball just in front of him, just in the right place to swing his right foot at it almost in the same movement, almost without moving, and he whacked it inside the right hand post. And yesterday Fulham were defeated 3-0 in the their homeground, thanks to a superb Dennis performance once again; his vision created two Arsenal goals.
26/08/04 Bergkamp in great form
Dennis has been brilliant in the first three games of the league season. Last Sunday the Dutch captain inspired Arsenal to a marvellous bounce-back to beat Boro 5-3 (DB10 scored once) and today the Gunners rolled over Blackburn 3-0 at Highbury. It was a special night for a special team as Arsenal set a new unbeaten record for the English League. The champions have now gone 43 Premiership matches without tasting defeat.
16/08/04 Arsenal starts with a win
Bergkamp captained the team in a 4-1 demolition at Everton. He also scored the first goal: Henry fed Dennis on the right-hand side of the area. He found himself in acres of space and drilled his shot into the far corner. Overall, it was a great performance, and there's still more to come.
12/08/04 Site News: New poll of the month
See the poll of the month for August. Previous poll results: As expected, 92% of you think that Reyes is better choice up front with Bergkamp than Aliadiere, if Henry isn't available. Total of 124 votes were submitted, thanks to all involved.
