Striker Dennis Bergkamp has been awarded the Barclaycard Player of the Month award for March.

Dennis had a fantastic month and helped to take the Club to the top of the Premiership.

Dennis began the month by scoring a contender for goal of the season in a 2-0 win at Newcastle's St James' Park, and continued his form throughout two more league wins before getting on the scoresheet again in a 3-0 win over Sunderland.

The Gunners had a 100% league record during March and also reached the F.A. Cup quarter-finals courtesy of a 3-0 win in a replay against Newcastle, Bergkamp was again on the scoresheet.

The Barclaycard's Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football's governing bodies, the media and fans, said of the Arsenal star who has scored 96 goals since his move to North London in 1995:

"He is two footed, he can score goals from anywhere and has the ability to change a match with a moment of genius, that is Dennis Bergkamp.

"It is no surprise that his current purple patch has coincided with Arsenal looking like title favourites again because when he plays well, Arsenal play well."
